Add SCSI Virtual Adapter

Hi all,

I'm trying to add the Virtual SCSI driver. I followed the directions to
modify the adaptec pci driver in the admin guide. I get through step 6
without problem, but step 7 doesn't happen. It just does it's little search
and doesn't find anything. Never get a listing where I can choose
Microsoft.

BTW: IS there an advantage to using a SCSI adapter in the VM environment.
I'm running VS2005 on a server that does have SCSI drives (RAID5).

Thanks!
Jim

I followed the steps below:

Installing the Accelerated SCSI Controller driver on Microsoft Windows
Server 2003

1.
Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and then click the Hardware
tab.

2.
Click Device Manager, and then select SCSI and RAID controllers.

3.
Select the Adaptec AIC-7870 PCI SCSI Controller, right-click it, and then
select Properties.

4.
Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

5.
When the Upgrade Device Driver wizard appears, click Next.

6.
Select the option Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced),
and then click Next.

7.
From the Manufacturers list, click Microsoft, and then click OK.

8.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
