Hardware Monitoring with Hyper-V?

While trying to Google for information I learned about System Center =
Operations Manager. But this is a client software. My server, however, =
will run unattended. Is there any solution in Hyper-V providing for this =
functionality?

None directly in Hyper-V - but there are tools out there for emailing
event logs. I use a gadget that shows event logs on the desktop:

You are somewhat mistaken on SCOM. It is a client-server solution for
systems monitoring. There is a client application that you use to check on
monitoring. If you want "lights out" management, tie it into SCVMM and
enable all the PRO tips.
