Internet access on VMs

Message:

I am new to Virtual Server, and I need a little help understanding the issue
of granting internet access to a VM.

I have a physical server running W2K8 SP2 x86. The server is patched and
has full internet access. On this box I've installed two VMs, both W2K8 SP2
x86. The VMs each have an IP address on the same subnet as the physical
machine. For example, the three OS's are 10.0.1.191, .192, .193. All three
are Workgroup members.

It seems to me that the VMs should have internet access just as the physical
box does, provided the gateway & DNS settings are the same as the physical
box. But I can't get internet access going on the VMs.

I've read here and there about the possible need for a loopback adapter and
ICS, but I don't understand why this would be a requirement, or how to
implement it if it is.

Can someone shed some light on this puzzle for me?
