Server HW Question

Message:

I've noticed that Microsoft mentions a few requirements for the processor
i.e. Intel VT, DEP, XD Bit.

I want to set up a server that will host two virtual machines -- one SQL
Server 2008 and the second machine will host Windows 2008 server for web
hosting purposes. I'll use this set up for two primary purposes i.e. host my
own intranet application which is not a high traffic site and a test web
site. So it's not a demanding scenario at all.

I was thinking about getting an inexpensive Dell server with about 16GB of
memory but this processor requirement concernec me a little. Are these
requirements fairly common? I was thinking about getting a Dell PowerEdge
T300 with Intel® Core 2 Duo®E6305, 1.86GHz, 2MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB. Would
this do the trick?

Secondly, would Quad core make a big difference? Even though this won't be a
demanding set up, it's always nice to have horse power. For instance, I may
want to create more virtual machines on this server.

I would appreciate your responses. Thanks.

Thanks,

Sam
