I have a question if you can emulate SCSI disk and the adapter without the
SCSI devices being present on the host system. Is this possible? If it is
possible how do I proceed? If it is possble how can I get more virtual SCSI
disk to connect to the same virtual SCSI adapter?

If the answer is no, then is a document that says that I needs to have SCSI
hardware on the host system in order to emulate the devices on the Virtual
Server.

I'm aware that Virtual Server 2005 emulates any SCSI adapter as the Adaptec
7870 SCSI adapter chip set.

Ashok,
Yes, Virtual Server can emulate up to four SCSI adapters without any SCSI
hardware present on the host. That is the point of emulation vs.
virtualization.

How?
Navigate to Virtual Machine > SCSI Adapters > Add SCSI Adapter (up to
four times), and click OK.

Attaching devices
Once the adapters are created, you can attach up to seven virtual HDs on
LUNs 0 - 6. The these locations show up in the drop down for attaching
hard disks. The host LUN can be set to ID 6 or 7 and can be shared for
clustering. Unfortunately, CD/DVD ISOs can not be attached to a SCSI LUN.

Yes.

Add a SCSI adapter to your guests through the VS Admin web site.

Once you've added the adapter, add virtual disks and connect them to the
adapter, again through the ADmin site. Note that if you make the SCSI
adapter as shared you can only add a single disk.

Not applicable.

You should probably begin by reading the help that comes with the
product as this is detailed in the help.

I was told at one time that performace is better with virtual SCSI even
though the host has IDE but have not been able to test since all our host

Yes.

This is basically a driver issue.

SCSI does a LOT more on the driver than IDE. So the SCSI-Driver is a better
abstraction.

The SCSI Driver coming with the Virtual Server Additions simply can do more
top optimize the communication with the underlying server than thee IDE
driver.
