The VSS writer failed to get the properties of the virtual machine

After upgrading Virtual Server R2 SP1, 3 of my 4 vm guest report this
- The VSS writer failed to get the properties of the virtual machine
The virtual machine is allowed for Offline backup only.

This event is flagged when Veritas Netbackup client, which is
installed on each VM machine, kicks off after hours and is performing
the backup.

Has anyone seen this? I am no longer backing up the VM machines via a
script that suspends the machines and then performs the backup using
NTbackup which I know can cause issues this event is just being
flagged when the Netbackup 6.5.1 client runs?
