Hi,

I have one VM working OK on Hyper-V with everything OK.

I wish to install a second VM and when I do with the network settings set to
include "New Virtual Network" and then install the OS MS 2008 Full Server, I
get a Yellow exclamation icon and no network adapter or VMBus.

Is this a sign that the Host system MS 2008 full server running Hper-v as
parent on DELL 2950 with 2 broadcom NIC's is broken and needs to be
re-installed?

Try re-installing them. If they're not exactly the same version, you'll have
issues. And there have been several versions since Server 2k8 shipped.

From the Hyper-V Manager, select the VM and click Connect to connect to the
VM. Log on to the VM. Now, from the Action menu of the Virtual Machine
Connection, select Insert Integration Services Disk. The Integration
Services installation should autostart. If it warns you that an existing
version exists, tell it to go ahead and install this version.

By doing the above, you ensure that the VM has the same version of ICs as
the host. This is critical if the VMBus network adapter is to work.

I'm not sure on that. In the formation of the first VM I didn't have to do
that it just appeared??

How do I know whether they are installed or not?

no go??

I had the same problem on multiples 2008 guests, i suspect that importing Virtual Server's vhds directly to hyper-v guests is some kind of troubling the hypervisor's.

VS vhds based machines works fine but all 2008 machines didnt detected normally the VMbus Network Adapter and Mouse HID's too.

Troubleshooting was hard because my 2008 guests were all core so far,so i just dropped it and put a legacy net adapter instead.

When i saw it on a 2008 GUI guest, just uninstalled thoose devices re-installing the HV integrations services after the VM reboot got a nice blue screen from the parent partition (each time and an Hypervisor error ).

But everything was fine after that the VMbus adapter worked fine.

I'm running an MSDNAA ( MSDN Academic Alliance ) build who was delivered with a Pre-version of Hyper-V on a home made server.

Maybe this is not helping but i installed the lastest Hyper-v update before activating the Hyper-v Role (2 week ago ) so normally ...
And machines are full updated everyday.

It will be nice if someone find a workaround to that bluescreen and possibly without launching a new install of the hypervisor :/
