Which Edition of Vista do you have?
If you have Business or Ultimate, then go to Control Panel, Programs and
Features, and select "Turn Windows features on or off". Expand the Internet
Information Services, Web Management Tools and select IIS 6 Management
Compatibility. IIS 6 Metabase is there. Apply, OK.
Home Editions do have limited IIS capabilities - off the top of my head I'm
not too sure what they contain.

I am running Ultimate. I installed IIS Metabase and IIS6 configuration
compatibility. Although it didn't ask for one I did a system restart.
I then tried to install Virtual Server 2005 R2 and got the same message:

Try to uncheck it and see what happens. I think you will be able to
install.
Then you just need to use VMRC+ to manage the VS2005 system like I do
on several PC:s. All of them are XP Pro PC:s, which do not have the
server class IIS available anyway.

admin website"...
There are so many problems that I cannot understand why any sane
person still uses it.
Probably it works OK if you have a server class host PC and this is
why MS does not fix it (workstation class PC:s are not supported for
Virtual Server...)
My advice *still* is:
- Install *without* the IIS components.
- Install VMRC+ as the admin console *application*
- Get started with the real work you want to do with VS2005

I assume this was because it did not give me the option to upgrade permissions.
So I went to the folder that VMRC+ was installed in and right clicked and selected runas
Administrator. (The shortcut did not allow me to select that option.) Then I clicked on Connect
and was connected to the localhost.
I can now create virtual servers.

I agree with Bo. Running the admin website on Vista is a not pleasant.
It was designed to work on Windows Server with IIS6. It can be made to work
on Vista with IIS7 but it is a pain.
