I run Virtual Server 2005 SP1 on Win2k3 EE R2 SP2, joined to a W2K3 domain.

If I log into the server hosting VS2005 by RDP using a domain account that
belongs to the local administrators group, I cannot load up the local Virtual
Server admin webpage. Instead, I get "HTTP 500 internal server error".

If I RDP to the same server (using the same credentials) but hit the console
session (mstsc /console), the IIS site works normally.

I found another user with this issue through a search, but no resolution was
listed

Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to resolve this?

Found resolution from

1/ Put the VS Admin website into Trusted Sites (IE)
2/ Set the VS Admin website to use Basic Authentication only (IIS)

You don't have to do all this...

Simple. If you are logging on locally with a domain account on a member server and not on domain controller.....

the default is to pass the logged on username in the local server format instead of the domain format. For example

locaserver\administrator

verses

domain\administrator

This will cause a creditals conflict

Simply go intp trust sites and add the site

then click custom level under security level for this zone.....

Scroll to the bottom and change the user authenication to prompt for password instead of automatically logon with current user.

You can tehn enter your username in domain\username format instead of localserver\username format.
