VSS, Hyper-V and slanaccel.exe

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver
Sent: 08/06/2008
From: Joshua D. McConnaughey
Message:

Scenario:

Windows Server 2008 Enterprise w/Hyper-V role (hyper-v is updated to RTM)
Backup Exec 12 w/latest updates

Please forgive my lack of understanding of VSS and how it works with
Hyper-V, but here is the problem as best I can understand it:

Backup Exec complains that C:\windows\system32\slanaccel.exe is not present
on the snapshot. From my limited research, it appears that from hyper-v RC0
on, slanaccel.exe is removed and the corresponding service is disabled.
However, it appears that hyper-v updates have not cleaned up references to
slanaccel in VSS, so VSS-reliant backups are still looking for it. Can I
manually clean it up? Will deleting the slanaccel service with sc work?

Thank you,
Joshua
