Hi there
Does anyone know how to change the behaviour of the default Virtual Machine
creation process?
I have set a directory that will house all my VM's in the following
folder:H:\Hyper-V\ , however, whenever I create a new VM, it installs it into
a directory similar to the following:

H:\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines\394830A4-184E-4517-8D75-6D0CBD1FA0A0

The .bin and .vsv files take same names and is very hard to distinguish:
394830A4-184E-4517-8D75-6D0CBD1FA0A0.bin
394830A4-184E-4517-8D75-6D0CBD1FA0A0.vsv

My recognisable names do not populate through to these directories or VM
files.

Is there a setting I can change to enable this?

When you create the VM, check the box "Stoire the virtual machine in a
different location" on the first page of the wizard. The location should be
the root of the directory structure you want, so in your case "H:\Hyper-V".
Now, Hyper-V will create VM specific directory structures. (You can't solve
the GUID name problem, but at least this gets it into a clearly labelled
directory.)

That GUID is how hyper-V keeps all the files together and identified
for each of it's VM's. (and there can be *several* files with the new
Snapshot ability.)
