Hyper-V Guest to Host File Copies

Hello group,

I have six Windows XP SP3 guests running under a Hyper-V RC0 host.
There is a file share on the Hyper-V system that all guests read from
and write to. I am doing distributed file analysis, where the XP
stations do the analysis and and the Hyper-V stores the files.

Occassionally, the WinXP machines will have difficulty writing to the
network share. The following events are logged:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MRxSmb
Event Category: None
Event ID: 50
Computer: WINXP-VM5
Description:
{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the
file \Device\LanmanRedirector. The data has been lost. This error may
be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network
connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Computer: WINXP-VM5
Description:
Application popup: Windows - Delayed Write Failed : Windows was unable
to save all the data for the file \\Hyper-v\Share\File.dat. The data
has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer
hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file
elsewhere.

This surprised me. I had assumed that network file transfers would be
more reliable over the virtual network. It should be near
instantaneous with the Hyper-V integration and the 1.4 Gbps guest
network speed.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot virtual network connectivity?

J Wolfgang Goerlich
