I have an external hard drive connected to my workstation which is running
virtual server. I need assistance in understanding where I enter the login
credentials.

It seems if I enter my login credential in the Logon tab of the Virtual
Server Service on my workstation or with the General Properties of the VM, I
am getting the following error message: "Windows cannot connect to the
domain..."

Any ideas?

files are on the external hard drive.

When I connect to the the Virtual Server, I am prompted for my credential.
I believe I need to also enter my creditials on the VS service or within th
VS Admin website? Is that not the case?

Thanks for the clarification. As I mentioned, when you connect to the
Virtual Server Administration website to administer VS2005, you would be
prompted for your credentials...

The two Virtual Server services run under security accounts that have low
privileges: The Virtual Server service (Vssrvc.exe) runs under the Network
Service account, which has limited access to the local computer and
authenticated access (as the computer account) to network resources. The
Virtual Machine Helper service (Vmh.exe) runs under the Local Service
account. This account has limited access to the local computer and anonymous
access to network resources.
