It's been a year back since i setup ms virtual server.

I've a new server contains

a) windows 2003 Enterprise R2
b) 16 gig ram, 4 quad core cpu
c) raid 1 + 5 harddisk

What *necessary* software i need to have to start installing VS ?

Agreed...the install will prompt you...you need IIS (and maybe .NET
Framework 2) and you'll have a little network "blip" when doing the install.

If you start up the install process it will tell you if it needs
something which isn't there.

In any case, by unselecting the options connected to IIS you can
install VS2005 just fine even if you are running Apache (as I am).
Admin is done using the VMRC+ application (available at Microsoft).
