Hi,

I would like to clarify the following article to configure host to guest
file sharing:

1. Do I need to install Loopback adapter on Guest machine?
2. IP setting for loopback adapter on host machine:
a. if guest machine need to install loopback adapter, does the ip on
host machine need to be the same subnet with guest machine?
b. if guest machine does not need to install loopback adapter, does the
ip on host machine for loopback adapter need to be the same subnet with
guest network adapter?

1. Do I need to install Loopback adapter on Guest machine?
No. You install a loopback adapter on the host and then create a virtual
network that maps to the loopback adapter. The guest will have its NIC
connected to the virtual network.
2. IP setting for loopback adapter on host machine:
IP subnet: They should be the same as the subnet of the host.

Thank you for your reply.

In my configuration, I have set up Guest machine to use physical network
card as well as loopback adapter. Somehow, when trying to copy file using
netbios name, it uses physical network card. Is there anyway to force it to
use loopback adapter for that?

Hi,
I think it depends on the order of the network bindings.

Try to disable the virtual NIC that maps to the physical network card so
that the guest uses the Virtual NIC mapping to the MS loopback adapter.
Then enable the first NIC again, the order of bindings will then reverse.
and you should see that a NETBIOS copy should go thru the MS loopback
adapter.
Another solution is to disable File & Print service on the virtual NIC that
maps to the physical adapter.
