OS X 10.4.2 (Tiger) Kernel Crashes with VPC 7.0.2Source: microsoft.public.mac.virtualpc Sent: 07/23/2005 From: Eric NOSPAM <(email address - cut out)tSPAM> Message:Hi all,
After upgrading to 10.4.2, whenever I use Virtual PC, I will inevitably
have a full system crash requiring a hard reset of the Powerbook that I
use (17" 1.5ghz with 2GB RAM and 2GB hard drive free). VPC will
function for a while, but anything more than 20-30 minutes will cause a
hard crash of OS X. If I minimize the Virtual PC or if I try to
restore a saved state PC, the crash will immediately happen.
Troubleshooting information is below. I have not put my email address
into this message to avoid spam. Thanks in advance for any help you
can give:

Sent: 08/03/2005 From: (email address - cut out) Message:The same problem occured to me, I had to reinstall Windows XP for 3
times already, as the lockup of the MAC, corrupted also the Windows
Virtual PC... Stable stuff this Windows huh ;-/
Now with the third attempt of Windows XP pro I did not install the
Virtual Additions... And until now (just 1 day active) I haven't had
any lockup of the mac (yet). Perhaps the virtual addtions make these
crashes, perhaps not...
To be continued...

Um, its actually the Mac OS overwriting VPC settings, so its really OS
X, not VPC that's the culprit in this case.
Depends, but if you're referring to this particular kernel panic its
related to OS X messing with VPC's settings.
There hasn't been much other feedback (IIRC, one other post) of the
VPC additions causing the behaviour you describe though.
