Windows ME boot disk runs on VPC 2007, but not on VirtualBoxSource: microsoft.public.virtualpc Sent: 07/29/2009 From: "CookyMonzta via WindowsKB.com" <u50174@uwe> Message:Although I succeeded in getting the Windows ME boot disk, and even WinME
itself, running in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, I've had no such luck with Sun
VirtualBox.
Upon startup with my WinME boot disk, as usual, I chose the following:
==================================================
2. Start computer with CD-ROM support.
Enter a choice: 2
==================================================
Then I got the following:
==================================================
This driver is provided by Oak Technology, Inc..
OTI-91X ATAPI CD-ROM device driver, Rev D91XV352
(C)Copyright Oak Technology Inc. 1987-1997
Device Name : MSCD001
Transfer Mode : Programmed I/O
Number of drives : 1
AIC-6260/6360/6370 ASPI Manager for DOS
Version 3.68S
Copyright 1990-1997 Adaptec, Inc.
_
==================================================
And that's as far as it goes inside VirtualBox. It doesn't do a PCI bus scan,
it doesn't create a RAMDrive, and MSCDEX is not activated. It simply freezes
after the first ASPI Manager program is activated. I have Vista with a
physical floppy drive and DVD burner, and 16 gigabytes of virtual drive space
for WinME.
One other thing: In Virtual PC 2007 with WinME, whenever I run a game (like
DOOM or Quake), the VPC screen, set at 1152x864 in WinME, shrinks to a small
widescreen about 1/4 the size of my 20-inch 1680x1050 widescreen monitor.
When I exit the game, it reverts back to 1152x864. How do I fix it so that
the VPC screen stays at 1152x864 whenever I run any program or game?

Questions about VirtualBox are, strictly speaking, off-topic in this
newsgroup - you'll probably get a much quicker (and better!) response by
posting in their own forums:

You can drag and drop files between the host and guest, but you must

Does Windows network sharing not work between ME and Vista? If it does,
then you can do the drag and drop.

With Windows networking you never do drag-and-drop....
What you do is file copy inside Windows Explorer.
But it works just fine as it should because the two computers are just
like any other two coputers on a network, it does not matter that one
is a virtual machine....
