I'm running Windows 7 in a VPC 2007 machine and I've run into a problem with
a feature that requires DirectX. Is there a known inability to invoke
DirectX in a virtual machine?

According to the page at Microsoft, VPC does Support DirectX but is not
recommended for gaming and other sophisticated graphics applications. I'm
working with a simple thumbnail issue so I'm surprised to see that it's a
problem.
