vpc 2007 memory anomaly

Message:

I've been using vpc 2007 on Vista host running dos 6.22 and win 3.1 as guest.

Through some memory tweaking I get about 605k free ram with additions
installed.

I recently found my old WinWord 6.0 disks and installed winword.

Now the situation--

Hardware Virtualization is available, and when enabled, Winword runs without
a problem. With hardware virtualization OFF, winword will ONLY run if it is
the 1st program to be used in a session, otherwise it generates a "not enough
memory to run Word" message and then I get a GPF.
Excel and other programs run without errors and system is very stabile.

The problem is really this... with Hardware Virtualization ON, I can not
print to LPT:1- I eventually get a no printer available message.
With hardware virtualization OFF, all works as it should.

Has anyone else witnessed this and perhaps found a work-around?

Thanks,
Fred
