Accessing content on local HDD from within a VM?

Source: microsoft.public.virtualpc

From: "Kent Compton [Microsoft]" <(email address - cut out)>
Message:

I have content on the HDD of a local PC that I would like to be able to
access from within a virtual machine that is also running on that PC. This
would enable me to install files from that HDD instead of having to burn
them to a CD, create an ISO which I'd then have to mount, etc.

Is there a simple way to access those files without having to go through the
aforementioned steps? I've tried mapping a drive, opening a UNC to the
share, etc all to no avail.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Kent

PS WL Search, Google, Yahoo! didn't return any results but perhaps I'm using
the search terms.
