Terrible screen colors with XP-Home guest and VMA installed

Message:

I had to investigate a problem concerning a PC with XP-Home pre SP2 so
I created a new guest and installed XP-Home (localized Swedish MSDN
edition) on it.
When all was done I decided to also have mouse integration so I used
the Action menu to install the VMA. After the install successfully
finished a reboot was commanded and when it came back up the screen
was reduced to 600x800 with 4 bit color depth!!!!
I have tried changing the guest screen handling to "best performance"
and restarted again, but to no avail. :-(
And I don't even get mouse integration for that matter!
I am running VPC2007SP1

Uninstalled VMA and now the screen is OK again, but of course no mouse
integration...

Finally tried to install the VMA from VPC2004SP1, which I have saved.
Lo-and-behold!
With the old VMA I have my screen resolution and color depth intact
and I also have mouse integration!

Must be something seriously broken with the VPC2007SP1 additions....
