Virtual PC IDS isntallation / Vista Nic displacement

I'm currently working on installing an IDS on a Windows XP sp3 machine setup
through VPC 2007. The host operating system is Vista Business sp1, two
network cards (nics). The host operating system (Vista) is using both cards
even though the one designated for the Microsoft Virtual Networks is the only
option checked in the NIC properties. With XP, 2003, and 2000 this does not
happen. The host system is disallowed through the properties of the NIC
through the same means as stated above, by unchecking all options except
Microsoft Virtual Networks. I am wondering if anyone would have any advice on
how to disallow Vista from using my Virtual PC NIC. It's rather annoying to
see host traffic through the IDS, although I can set a rule to ignore it that
does not solve my problem. It causes "network interferrence" even with the
use of a network tap. Which means Vista is sending packets through the NIC.
Any advice would be appreciated.
