"Use physical drive <x>" not available

Message:

I am running VPC 2007 SP1 on Windows Vista SP1. I am trying to create a
Windows Server 2008 guest and have a DVD available in Drive F:. From the host
machine I can browse this DVD just fine but when I invoke the guest I have
created, the “Use physical Drive F” option is grayed out.

I’ve been hunting around and found references to AutoPlay and other factors
that might result in this being grayed out - but I haven’t located any
explanation that fixed the issue for me.

What are the possible reasons that this option would be grayed out? FWIW, I
have two DVD drives in the machine (Drive E: is the other one) and both are
grayed out.
