Metalix TD

OK I admit that I am hooked on Metalix TD,
( http://www.shockwave.com/content/metalixtd/sis/metalixtd.swf )
The problem is that it takes a long time to get to level 27 or higher, then
all it takes is a twitch, or muscle cramp to make the wrong mouse click and
lose the game and have to start right back at level 1 again. Level 1 through
twenty are so boring that sometimes I lose on them because I am bored and not
paying attention, so I have heard that some people are using virtual machine
or virtual box to save the settings and to choose to start at a previously
played level instead of having to start at level one over again.
Any suggestions/ help?
I enjoy playing games, but I am not a pro, or expert, (I admit, I'm slow and
below average gamer, but I still like the occasional game) so all of you who
are really good and have the lighting reactions just open a new post and
label it "trash" because I already know that there a lot of players who are
better than me so your opinion doesn't count.

I and others who don't have 16 hours a day to play still like to spend a
little time relaxing, but don't appreciate having to go through the boring
stages to get to the interesting ones. (and perhaps we don't have the time or
talent to learn and decode programming codes.
