win32.sys blue screeen crash

I recently installed a Windows 32-bit virtual machine on my Windows 64-bit OS
machine. I have been getting some blue screen crashes (lots of blue screen
and words that Windows has shut down to recover from a serious error) since
then and I would like to know if it is the Windows 64-bit real machine or the
Windows 32-bit virtual machine that has crashed.

The technical information on the crash screen is as follows:
win32k.sys
STOP:0X00000050(0XFFFFFA802B611000,
0X0000000000000000,OXFFFFF97FFF,7F664,0X0000000000000000)
WIN32K.SYS ADDRESS FFFFF9FFF17F664 BASE FFFFF97FFF000000 Datestamp 47e0f866

Does the reference to win32.sys mean that it is the virtual machine that is
crashing or does the 64-bit OS also use that file?

Is it likely/possible that it is the virtual machine installation in the
real machine that is causing the crashes?

It is not in the virtual machine window so that means it must be the host. I
did a minor reset to see if that solved the problem and so far no further
blue screens. Here's hoping. Thanks.

System restore defaults to 3:00 am this morning, i can't find any of m
other restore points!

can I copy a new win32k.sys file over it to get the system up

Pagefault is referencing 9c8d868f 9c80000

My problem appears to be related to the Virtual PC installation on the host
machine. As long as I don't use the Virtual PC, I don't get crashes. When I
do, I get periodic crashes. So I have decided to minimize my use of the
virtual PC and live with the periodic crashes.

If the host crashes when using VPC2007 then you most likely have a
faulty driver on the host, probably a network driver that doesn't play
with VPC2007.
Check that the drivers you have are the very latest.

Another item that can hit you is the BIOS version, if it is not
up-to-ate it may not support the VT option very well and crashes
instead.
To make sure, uncheck the "hardware virtualization" checkbox for all
of your guests and try again.
