Yeah, Winimage is the utility to do that.
Long before there was a FAQ I was using WinImage to create floppy
images from floppys, etc.

Thanks. I checked that out earlier -- it's in some FAQ.
Ah -- here it is... http://robertmoir.com/forums/t/274.aspx
I had thought that there would be some utility method of doing it -- like
diskcopy -- crashing the machine (vm) after 'remove copy-from disk and
inserting copy-to disk', I seem to recall at some point it resides on the
hard disk.............
I had not realized that I could create an empty vfd from the pc virtual
console.........
But so long as I get the labels correct, it should be easier loading the
files (which I have) to an empty .vfd.

Does anyone know the actual disk labels of Windows for Workgroups 3.11 disks

A lot of install programs used to check the volume label and if it wasn't
correct wouldn't accept the disk as being valid.

Message:Well, you took my question in a very literal way. It is difficult putting
those sticky-paper labels on a virtual floppy. :-)
A friend emailed the information, complete with hex representation of the
label field. If it ever comes up, it is excruciatingly simple -- DISK1,
DISK2, etc............ There is also a marker file on each 'disk' that I
noticed last night -- says disk7 for disk 7, disk8 for disk 8.....
Vfds now ready to load in virtual floppy drive when asked for...............
I am going to network for web access Windows For Workgroups 3.11 -- it's all
academic -- and I hope this blog info is complete and correct..........
