Im new to VPC, so please be nice.
I have installed VPC on a few machines because im interested in viewing the
potential of working with Virtual Machines. The limitation that i am now
facing is regarding the reconigition of hardware. I have a PCI board in the
computer the is seen in the device manager of my PC, however it doesnt show
up in the device manager of my VPC.

Correct. That's the way VPC works. To see the set of emulated hardware
used by all virtual machines check the VPC help and search on "emulated
devices." These cannot be changed or other devices from your PC added. You
can access your optical drive and the Com ports through Settings and the
drop-down for the emulated cd but that's about it.

able to interface with the hardware. For example, some of the software that
i run requires a hardware Licence.

its a shame there is no Patch, or "Driver" that could allow for
intercommunication.

Pretty much.

Virtual machine technology never really has been about that kind of
thing, it's been about isolation from the host and consolidation.

Basically it supplies a *stable* but old PC platform with fixed assets
for testing software on. There are no "slots" to plug anything into...

I have a major issue with that. USB ports should at least be available, as
most newer laptops don't have com ports and I need to access the com via
converter cable to interface.
Switched to VMWare at a massive price just for that option, but now still
need VPC on the same machine for my OS/2. :(
