Trying To Install OS/2 Warp 4

I'm trying to install OS/2 Warp 4 into Virtual PC. I followed the setup
wizard and specified OS/2 and accepted the defaults except I gave it 256
mb of ram. The setup goes through diskettes 0, 1, and 2 and I end up
with the message "SYS0039: The C: device is not ready". There are three
options;

Return error code to program
End program/command/operation
Retry command or operation

And of course I can't get beyond this screen. I tried switching the CD
to the primary IDE controller but I end up at the same place.

Any thoughts on this and how I might be able to get OS/2 installed?

In my installations of OS 2,I have always install a DOS and Windows
3.1 first. It is easily to install the OS into a new logical partition

The solution to this issue is, you have to FDISK and FORMAT the drive using a DOS 6.2 or suitable disk.

The easiest way to do this is to make an IMAGE a DOS BOOT UP DISK, or of the 1st DOS DISK, and mount it as an image within Virtual PC.

Either way you access it, press F3 at the first blue setup screen. That will drop you to a DOS prompt. FDISK, make the partition < than 2GB. Reboot.

FORMAT (FAT 16).

Reboot to the first floppy or image for OS/2 4 Warp. Accept the partition and your choice to format HPFS.
