Message:Tnx. Is the limited resolution a limitation of the emulated video card, or
the emulated monitor? My interest is only academic at this point, since it
appears I can't change either.

You should be able to get 1600x1024 in the guest, which works pretty well on a

If you connect to the guest with Remote Desktop (if this is possible
depends on the guest OS of course) then you can run the RDP client at
full screen on your host or other networked PC that can see the guest
network. You need the most recent RDP client version from Microsoft to
go above 1600x1200, but then you're all set.
I do this in place of running the interactive console because I have
felt it a more convenient way of working. THe guest is minimized and
has been given a small screen of 1024x768 only for certain admin
purposes.

When you use VPC2007, what you in effect do when you create a guest is
to get yourself a readymade PC with a given set of hardware (but that
hardware is emulated in software) and with no operating system
installed at all.
You can change a few items in this PC:
- Amount of RAM
- Hard disk size (but beware, it behaves like a real drive so it is
not possible to change the dive size once it is in use).
- Enable using a LPT printer port chained from the host
- Enable using a COM port chained from the host
- Number of network cards in this PC
I think the list is now exhausted.
You cannot change any peripheral like the video card or sound card at
all, because these are part of the VPC program (that emulates the
video system).
And you will not get any USB connectivity at all...

Well, the USB storage systems connected to the host and *shared* to a
guest is not really a USB device for the guest....
That is only a folder sharing system from host to guest and the USB
part is handled by the host.
I should perhaps have said that the guests do not have any USB
functionality at all so they cannot attach any USB device.
THe main problem we have is when trying to test software that is
protected with USB connected hardware keys. That simply cannot be done
at all with VPC2007 and VS2005, whereas it *is* possible with VMWare
WorkStation and Player.
So using a VPC2007 guest as a software test platform is limited in
scope by this.
